WBA WMU NEWS UPDATE MARCH 2025

Wow it has been a chilling winter. However looking around we see warmer weather coming. There are signs of new growth. Green sprouts are coming up and daffodils are blooming and my blueberry tree is full of buds. These are signs that spring is around the corner. These are signs we want to see in our WMU organizations in the 78 churches in the Waccamaw Association and throughout the State of SC. There is no better way to engage in Missions Education than having WMU in every church. The story began in Baltimore Maryland, Woman’s Missionary Union S. B. C. began in 1888,137 years ago. It is our goal to continue this legacy. Each woman needs to be committed to continue to learn and be able to Tell Our Story to all Nations. Not only in the Waccamaw Association but to spread the message throughout the world.

This year has already begun with the first event of the year as we celebrated Focus on WMU Sunday Feb 16. There was a Multi Generation Tea Party Brunch hosted by Wampee Baptist Church in Longs on Feb.15, Sat. 11am-1pm. The guest speaker was Debby Ackerman, National WMU President Emerita speaking on From Hope to Joy which reminds us of the WMU Emphasis 2024 - 26 - What Joy! We were also honored to have Ann Nagy serving as a missionary in Bangkok, Thailand to speak and share with us some of her story. She is available to speak in your church while she is home on furlough. She can be contacted through the WBA office in Conway, 843-248-9358. Hats galore parading around as all celebrated a Spectacular event hosted by the WMU Ladies of Wampee Baptist Church. There were 100+ in attendance and 17 churches were represented.

The next scheduled event is March 28-29 which is WMU Missions Enounter and Annual Meeting, Sweetwater Baptist Church, North Augusta, SC. The meeting is sponsored by the SC Baptist Convention.

There the South Carolina State WMU Executive Officers for 2025-26 will be elected, business will be conducted on the state level. There will be missionaries speaking, singing and breakout sessions on different topics on mission opportunities and work being done throughout the state of South Carolina and around the world. I would advise everyone to seize the experience and attend. Go online to SCWMU.org to register to attend and acquire motel reservations if needed.

Mark your calendar for WBA WMU Spring Meeting, April 7, 2025, 5:30-8pm, Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 2710 SC 905 Hwy, Conway. A meal will be provide at 5:30( $5 @ the door).RSVP by Apr 1, 843-248-9358.

The Speaker will be Tom Rice who serves with the SC Baptist Convention. Be in prayer for the WBA WMU Leadership Team as we present the Officers for 2025-26 as we serve together with the 78 churches in the Waccamaw Baptist Association to advance the Kingdom of God, beginning in Horry County and to all Nations.

The WBA WMU complete calendar is online @ WBAorg.com to plan for your year. Please if you do not currently have WMU in your church consider connecting your ministries along with the WMU so together we can be stronger and accomplish impossible possibilities together.
